Aloha and Welcome

Aloha and Welcome to the Damien 1987 Alumni website.

This site is dedicated to the alumni of Damien Memorial School located in Kalihi, Hawaii.

There are many places to participate within the website.  There is the message board area where everyone can talk story about things back in the day or about what is going on lately with fellow classmates.   There is also the picture album where everybody can share their photos of past and present.  And lastly there is the tag board located on the front page, where you can post your shout outs and comments at any time.

Remember, this is OUR website so it can be developed OUR way.  Just suggest it and it will be attempted.

So kick back, cruise around and enjoy the site.

Mahalo.

'87 Jerseys

Gang,

Bryant busted his butt doing the leg work on this for us and came up with a sweet jersey for our class.  It's white with purple lettering outlined in gold.  The jerseys are going to be $40 bucks.

Those who want a name or nickname on the back, email me with what you want on it.  The sooner the better, we want to have them by the Turkey Bowl.  If we don't have a large enough response by Tuesday (11/11), Bryant's going to place the order and we'll have to put the names on later.

We are going to order 40 jerseys....25 XL and 15 XXL. It's first come first served.  If you are in, please email me and one will be held for you.  You can send me a check, pay on the web site (pay pal) or bring the $40 at the Turkey Bowl.

We would like to stress that Bryant is fronting the initial down and will be reimbursed from the class account.  The account will be replenished by our purchase of the jerseys.

YOU DON'T PAY YOU DON'T GET ONE.

On a HERO note, I would like to congratulate Aaron Bangan who, in the process of his strenuous firefighter duties of raising "Old Glory", helped the police chase down and capture a theft suspect.  Congratulations big guy.
The 10 year old stopped running because he was laughing so hard that Aaron couldn't keep up and promised he would never steal candy again.  I'm kidding about that.

I know it's late and I apologize but Clem just informed me (Thursday) that Damien plays Word of Life on Saturday at the stadium at 5pm.  After the game at Damien, Coach Aina offered the Alumni the opportunity to meet at the purple line and share in some suds.

Aloha Boys,

'87 MINUTES
November Meeting
11-03-08

ROLL: Rosie, Rommel, Bryant, Ron, Mike

ABSENT: Daron

ACCOUNT: Currently about $350 (Not exact amount)
We would like to acknowledge Daron's contributions as our class treasurer and thank him for setting us up with our class account.  Daron will be stepping aside and allowing Ron to take over our finances.  This will be put to a vote and finalized at our next class meeting.

OLD BUSINESS:

Turkey Bowl- According to the evite response it appears that we are going to have a great turn out even if the other classes don't show.  If you need the details, email, call or check out the web page.
IF YOU CAN BRING A GRILL, PLEASE DO. We were short last year and it took a while to prepare the food.

JERSEYS- Bryant and Ron are in the process of getting us CLASS jerseys for the turykey bowl.  White with Purple lettering. The price right now is varied from about $30 (not so good) to $70 (awesome but expensive).  I think it would be awesome to have our own "class" uniform we can use for every turkey bowl from now on.  Plus, we could use it for homecoming or other school funcitons as well.  The joke is to have them all with the number 87 and your own name or nickname on the back.  I don't know about you, but I'm gonna get one and don't care how much they are.  How about you brothers on the mainland?  What do you think?  Would you buy one?  Let us know.

35 & Over Alumni Softball Tourney-  We ALL qualify for this so we should have a good turn out.  This will be the first weekend in December.  Rosie is the front man for this and will be letting us know the dates we play.

Bowling- We are going to try and schedule bowling for the December 7 or 14.  Marc will be getting back to us.  This is open to the families, especially the keiki.  Let's get together and have some fun.  This will be on base so Marc is going to need driver and vehicle information.  When the details are solidified the evite will follow.

Casino Night- We're planning on having Casino Night the weekend of January 16-18 (three day weekend).  Still deciding on the exact day.  We are working out the details, stay tuned.

Vegas "40"- In the works.  Any ideas or changes you would like to see from our 20th, let us know.

NEW BUSINESS:

Community Outreach/Awareness Programs- The committee was discussing the idea of Adopt a Highway and other things like Relays for Life.  Just some ways we could participate in giving back as a class.  I personally feel that they were some outstanding ideas.  We will get back to you guys with what, when and where we will be participating in.  EH! Can use the Jerseys!

Alumni Ideas- Spoke with (coach) Clem Enoka who had some more really good ideas with regards to alumni participation.  He was thinking of having shirts made and sold to help benefit the kids.  He was also mentioning having a pot luck at the end of practice one night to meet the kids on the team and meeting at the "Purple Line".  I think this would be an awesome thing to do one practice before homecoming.  Did you know that they don't have Spirit Night anymore?  Do YOU remember that?  Maybe we could help them bring that back as well.

ADJOURNED: The meeting was adjourned at 9:30pm

NEXT MEETING.......Monday, Dec. 1 at Bryant's place (Harbor Center by Aiea Cutter Ford) at 6:30pm

We'll email you guys with information on the jersey and price soon.  If you guys have any questions or ideas, please contact us.
