Boys, I really don't know where to begin regarding our reunion. I will probably only reiterate what all of my brothers have already stated. And that is that we had an awesome time! I want to sincerely thank all who came to the committee meetings. Without your input, we collectively wouldn't have had the event that we did. Everyone's input was invaluable. I would personally like to thank all the committee members who constantly gave up their personal and family time to meet and coordinate our reunion.
Rico, for your efforts in coordinating our slot tournaments and for the constant entertainment you provide. Bryant, for the awesome banners you set us up with for the reunion and future events. Daron, for setting us up with our own bank account and taking on the responsibility of being the treasurer. Alt, for you and your brother Devon's effort in setting us up with two beautiful golf outings up in Vegas. An absolutely awesome time. Ron, for always hooking us up with food at the meetings and for the use of your beautiful home (garage) for gatherings after our golf outings. Especially for setting us up with an outstanding banquet dinner. Colin, for the use of your office for our meetings and the use of your beautiful home (garage) for the pa'ina after our '87 golf outings as well as your efforts with the research, purchase and distribution of our caps and visors to strengthen our class account. And for setting up the S.T.O.M.P. show for us. Ivan, to you and your wife for an outstanding performance and the special touch during the show by putting black electrical tape ('87) on the rubbish can saluting your class. These guys deserve a huge pat on the back for all of their bus ass work on get this thing moving and seeing it through to it's conclusion. I THANK YOU! If I have forgotten anyone, please forgive me. It is not intentional and I would like to thank you for all you've done. I would like to wish brother Shimo a happy birthday on Tuesday, you old fut. Speaking of birthdays, we were thinking of creating another gathering in Vegas for all the 40th birthdays in 2009. Any takers? Give us a shout via phone or email. Seeing everyone brought back alot of old and awesome memories. I remember freshman year P.E. with Herb.....oooooops....Herb yer ass! I mean Mr. Lloyd. Who remembers "Jock Check"? No mo and you got the Warrior Test. The open hand on the bare chest. How about gathering in the morning in the cafe to "finish" (copy) homework? Or how about those healthy lunches. Greasy Mays burgers passed off as Soy Burgers with a side of Pizza washed down with a nice cold soda? Kam bakery? Mitsuken's morning breakfast? Sports on the infamous 80 yard dirt field? The smell of the locker room and ducking head butts from upper classman, Chad Kurashige???? Anyone, anyone? How bout the boys of the "back roads"? You know who you are. Seeing everone's face brought back all of those emotions for me and it was awesome to see some with their wives and to hear stories of families and success. It doesn't matter to me if someone became the President, doctor or a rocket scientist, it was great seeing EVERYONE and sharing time together again. ANYBODY GET PEN! We missed alot of people but, for the most part, everyone is healthy and doing well and for that we are truly blessed. My hopes and prayers are that we continue to stay together, stay strong and carry on what, in my op pinion, has been a total success. As for future events, I was recently contacted by brother Justin Kahoaka regarding the possibility of another '87 golf outing at Makaha East. The date and times are pending but, as soon as we find out we will pass on the information. Let me know. Mark Flores ('82) and Brad Buffett ('83) are in charge of the Alumni Booster Club and are setting up a fundraiser for the entire Damien sports program. The idea is to build an account for the sports program so when the kids in any sport need equipment or the grounds need repairs, the kids will not be denied by the Athletic Department. We, as a collective family will be able to support the boys. The event will be on Wednesday, June 6th at the Ocean Club, from 5-10pm. Contact me for tickets via phone or email and I will get those out to you. Cell is 255-8656 or at this email address

. They're also looking for donations. So if anyone has a product they would like to donate please, let me know that as well.
Again, to EVERYONE, thank you and see you all soon. '87 Pride! Mikey |

Monarchs of ’87,
Just want to say that I had a blast reconnecting with all of you. Whether it was through emails the last few months or at the LV reunion, the experience was unforgettable. As Mike, Colin, and Ron are reiterating, this is the beginning of more to come. Just want to say my thanks to Mike for starting it all and for finishing what you started. Ron for all the food and your planning of the banquet. Colin for the meetings at your office and the setup of Stomp. Daron for the hook-up with our account at the bank. Trony for the website, which is beyond what we had expected. Bryant for the awesome banners that we had at the reunion (did anyone get a picture of that?). Rico for setting up the slots tournaments. And for all that attended, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedules to come out to LV. I know that I speak for all when I say that we had a great time.
And last but not least the golf tournament at Las Vegas Paiute Resort. Colin came up to me and said that he wanted a tournament in which ANYBODY would have a chance to win, even Rico. So I decided to pair the lowest score with the highest, second lowest with the second highest, and so forth. And here are the results:
Devin (my brother) – 78 Trony – 134 Total – 212 Alton – 82 Rommel – 131 213 Lester – 91 Ivan - 122 213 Rob – 94 Ron – 122 216 Rico – 94 Ed – 116 210 Daron – 95 Steve – 115 210 Marc – 99 Colin – 108 207 James – 101 Mike – 106 207
The tiebreaker for all scores was the 18th hole. The individual/team with the lowest score on the 18th hole would break the tie. As you can see the scores came out pretty close. Trony, if you want, you can post these on the website. Mike and James went home with koa bowls along with splitting a $100 cash for coming in 1st. We’re having more tournaments so you have to show up with these. Thanks to Colin for setting that up. 2nd place went to Marc and Colin, splitting $80. 3rd went to Daron and Steve Wong, splitting $60 and last but not least, 4th place to Rico and Ed, splitting $40. Closest to the hole winners on the par 3’s were me, Marc (who took two, one from me you cheater) and Daron, who each took home $20 per hole. We should have some pictures on the website.
For those of you who didn’t make it, you missed out but be sure to check the website for other events for us to congregate at. Thanks to everyone involved and those that attended for an unreal experience. See you when I see you.
Shimo

Gentlemen of the Damien Class of 1987, It was truly a wonderful experience to celebrate the 20th reunion with all of you. The truth be told, all the guys on the reunion committee were a little nervous about putting everything together and seeing it turn out successful. Speaking for myself, I was not let down in the least. Everything from the welcome reception, to the slot tournaments, to golf and to the reunion dinner was incredible. I especially enjoyed hanging out with all of you “shooting the breeze” and catching up on old times (and sharing new times too). It was wonderful to share in the successes and reconnecting hopefully to be a part of all your futures. Remember, this is just the start of more to come. BJ reminded me how important it is to know not only how each of us is doing, but also what each of us is doing. With that in mind, I will be working on a database specifically for the class of ’87 so we all can share our talents with each other. The way I figure it, if you are doing a business that I need, I can give you the business or recommend someone to use your business. So, when you all aren’t too busy, email me you info: 1. name 2. business 3. contact numbers 4. email and 5. brief description of what it is you do! I know one of the brothers out there will need help doing something that another brother already does.
God Bless you all and hope to see you soon! Ron Amasol

Aloha from Sin City! Monday kicked off our official first day of our reunion although some of us got an early start playing a few golf games this past Saturday. Others were making their trips over on Sunday and even Monday morning.
The reunion started off with 8am Slot Tourney at Main Street headed by Rico Obrero, who incidentally was mysteriously not there when bells started ringing. :) The big winner was none other than Ron Amasol followed in 2nd by Darryl Cadiz. Take a look at the pics we uploaded to give you some perspective.
For the golfers, Paiute was a beautiful course, definitely worth it. Comradery was at its fullest, on and off the links while our entire group drank every available Fat Tire beer at the club house.
The reception on Monday night was something to remember. Our classmates from all over in one location catching up on the last 20 years. A few of us look the same and others look entirely different. Check out the pictures on website.
More information in the next upcoming days…
